111th INDEPENDENCE DAY of the PHILIPPINE REPUBLIC: A Reminder for us FILIPINOS.

“It is easy in the world to live after the world's opinions; it is easy in solitude to live after your own; but the great man is he who in the midst of the crowd keeps with perfect sweetness the independence of solitude”.
Its been One Hundred Eleven years that we have been lavishing our own INDEPENDENCE as a NATION, for One Hundred Eleven years ago that our fathers brought forth on this archipelago a new nation, conceived in liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal. We have come to dedicate a portion of that field as a final resting place for those who here gave their lives that this nation might live. It is altogether fitting and proper that we should do this.

But, in a larger sense, we cannot dedicate. . .we cannot consecrate. . . we cannot hallow this ground. The brave men, living and dead, who struggled here have consecrated it, far above our poor power to add or detract. Let us feel and understand the real essence of this celebration. The world will little note, nor long remember, what we say here, but it can never forget what they did here. Let us be proud of what we have right now and value it for we will never experience what our forefathers have been into before.



Also it is for us the living rather, to be dedicated here to the unfinished work which they fought for have thus far so nobly advanced. It is rather for us to be here dedicated to the great task remaining before us and that from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they gave the last full measure of devotion. That we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain. That this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom and that government of the people. . .by the people. . .for the people. . . shall not perish from this earth.

A house divided against itself cannot stand. I believe this government cannot endure permanently half slave and half free. Let us be aware and be vigilant enough to secure this freedom and independence we enjoy. Amidst the celebration we are in doubt from aggression from the people in power. We try to defy reality but we cannot deny the fact that we are still in bondage from Poverty, from violence, from unemployment, from lack of education, from corruption and a lot more.

Let us evaluate our selves of what we share in our nations progress and independence. Let us join hands to secure this INDEPENDENCE our DEMOCRACY and we will not tolerate those people who will try to destroy it and use their power for their own sake.

To all Filipinos everywhere in the world... HAPPY 111th INDEPENDENCE DAY!!!
